Instituted Orations

UPASI has instituted the following orations in memory of distinguished surgical pioneers who shaped surgery in Uttar Pradesh and across India.

Oration

Dr. SC Misra Oration

Instituted in honour of Dr. SC Misra, a pioneering figure in surgical practice who made outstanding contributions to the advancement of surgery in Uttar Pradesh.

Dr. NC Misra Memorial Oration

A memorial oration established to perpetuate the memory of Dr. NC Misra and to encourage scholarly discourse on contemporary surgical subjects.

Dr. HS Asopa Oration

Instituted in honour of Dr. HS Asopa, celebrating excellence in surgical innovation and the spirit of continuous learning in the surgical fraternity.

Awards & Fellowships

UPASI is very keen to recognise merit, encourage younger members and provide platforms for participation in professional conferences. The following honours are conferred annually.

Teaching Excellence

Eminent Senior Surgical Teacher Award

Recognises a distinguished senior surgical teacher who has made exceptional contributions to surgical education and mentorship over a sustained career.

Young Achiever

Young Outstanding Surgical Teacher Award

Celebrates an outstanding young surgeon who has demonstrated exceptional teaching skills and a commitment to nurturing the next generation of surgeons.

Fellowship

Senior Teacher Travelling Fellowship Award

Enables senior surgical teachers to travel and participate in national or international surgical conferences, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration.

Lifetime Achievement

Life Time Achievement Award

The highest honour conferred by UPASI, recognising a lifetime of exemplary service, dedication and outstanding contribution to surgical practice and education.

Chapter Award

Best City Chapter Award

Awarded to the UPASI city chapter that has demonstrated outstanding organisational excellence, academic activities and member engagement during the year.

Rural Surgery

Rural Surgeon Travelling Fellowship

Provides rural-based surgeons the opportunity to travel and participate in major surgical conferences, bridging the gap between urban and rural surgical practice.

How to Apply

UPASI invites nominations for all orations, lectures and awards annually. Applications must be submitted with supporting documents as per the specific guidelines for each honour. Nominations are reviewed by the UPASI Executive Committee.

Prepare Documents

Compile required supporting documents including CV, certificates and nomination letters.

Submit Nomination

Submit your completed application with all required documents to the UPASI Secretariat before the deadline.

Announcement at UPASICON

Winners are announced and awarded at the annual UPASICON conference each year.

Application Deadline

Nominations for all orations and awards must be submitted by 31 March of the current year. Late applications are not entertained.
