- Formation and inauguration of the first chapter of ASI. Formal recognition by the parent body. Constitution ratified.
- Deputation of members to the parent body. Sponsorship of two postgraduate students from each medical college to attend the state conference.
- Institution of CME courses including the Dr. Jawaharlal Rohtagi Travelling Fellowship CME course.
- Institution of the Dr. N.N. Khanna CME course. Annual conference held in Varanasi.

- First state-level conference of surgical teachers held in collaboration with Kanpur University.

- Publication of the first surgical journal issue by the Lucknow Chapter.
The Dr. S.P. Srivastava Oncology Guest Lecture was elevated into a full oration award.
UPASI received the prestigious Best Chapter Award from the Association of Surgeons of India.
